When you approach a city on the water it has a special draw. The ocean smell of salt and seaweed as well as the birds and the tugs are just part of it.
This early morning view of the city as it awakes with its sounds of city life and industry, taxi's and cars paint a picture of a vibrant city.
As you move thru the city scene you can't help but either wanting to be there or glad to view this vibrancy from a safe distance. Times have changed our visual and physical perception of large city life hasn't it.
I used water color as a transparent medium as well as a solid to achieve the vibrancy and interest. Pen and ink always helps to define some of the structure. Movement in the colors and also in the content was my intent. Enjoy city life from a distance or climb on the ferry to enjoy it first hand. You'll be there before you know it.
